Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Castleview Open Farm, we’ve transitioned from a high-emission beef finishing farm to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way of farming through tourism. We take active steps to protect wildlife, reduce waste, and operate responsibly.

  • Supporting Wildlife – We plant new trees and flowers annually to provide habitats for birds, rabbits, bees, shrews, and foxes. Bird feeders are placed around the farm during winter to support wild birds.
  • Responsible Waste Management – Our restaurant has separate bins for general waste, recycling, cans, and food waste. All food scraps are used to feed our animals.
  • Eco-Friendly Packaging – All hot drink and food packaging is fully compostable.
  • Sustainable Building Practices – Where possible, we use timber in farm construction to minimise environmental impact.
  • Protecting Natural Habitats – We allow surrounding hedgerows to grow naturally, providing safe nesting areas for birds.

By making these changes, we’re committed to preserving nature while offering a great farm experience for visitors.
