The calves are here!

Four black-and-white calves stand on straw in a barn with yellow ear tags for identification.

Today was an exciting day on the farm—new calves arrived! The farmer brought them in a big trailer, and as soon as the doors opened, the calves peeked out, curious about their new home. They were small, wobbly, and had the softest fur.

The other animals were so excited to meet their new friends. The chickens clucked, the donkeys neighed, and the highland cows watched curiously from their favourite spot in the shed-next to the delicious silage! The calves stepped into the warm shed and sniffed the air, getting used to their new surroundings.

The calves also got lots of gentle pats and welcoming words. They will spend their first few days exploring, resting, and making friends with the other animals.

The farmer made sure they had fresh hay, warm bedding, and plenty of water. Since they are still young, the calves need special milk to help them grow strong and healthy. Some drink from bottles, while others learn to sip from a bucket. As they grow bigger, they will start eating hay and grains to give them energy for their playful adventures!

At Castleview Open Farm you can help us to feed the calves every day we are open from 3-4pm! There are fifteen lively and playful calves, so we will need lots of help from all of you!
